I'm Cindy Chatt- a small business owner, Tekemah native and multi-generation Nebraskan.
In my time as a rural entrepreneur, I know that our rural communities don’t lack ideas. They don’t lack hardworking people. What folks lack is the right support from the places where decisions are made.
We need someone in Lincoln who understands the people of our communities, what they need, and will stand up for them.
That's why I'm running for the NE Legislature- because I believe I can do that for District 16.

CORE ISSUES AND VALUES
Strong Main Streets, Strong Communities
Healthy communities start with vibrant Main Streets. I’ve seen firsthand how one business, one renovated building, or one community event can change the energy of an entire town. When downtowns are thriving, people take pride in where they live, entrepreneurs are willing to invest, and visitors have a reason to stop and stay awhile. In the Legislature, I will work to remove unnecessary barriers for small businesses, support local entrepreneurship, and encourage smart investment in our historic downtowns so rural communities across Nebraska can grow and thrive.
The Future is Local
Nebraska produces some of the best agricultural products in the world, but too often the value created from those products leaves our communities. We have an opportunity to strengthen local economies by supporting value-added agriculture, food production, agritourism, and small businesses that keep dollars circulating locally. I believe the future of rural Nebraska lies in building stronger local networks between farmers, entrepreneurs, and communities so we can create opportunity while preserving the traditions that make our state unique.
Practical Leadership That Gets Things Done
Running a small business teaches you quickly that ideas only matter if they actually work. Every day you make decisions about budgets, employees, customers, and long-term sustainability. That experience shapes how I approach leadership: listen carefully, work with people who may not always agree, and focus on practical solutions that move our communities forward. Nebraska deserves leaders who bring real-world experience to the table and are focused on solving problems, not creating more of them.
